A small team, a big fridge full of food going to waste, and an AI idea that changed how we cook.
We built Quillo because we kept doing the same thing and getting the same result. Do a big shop, put it all in the fridge, stare at it a few days later with absolutely no idea what to make, and order a takeaway while perfectly good food slowly went off in the background.
It sounds like a small problem. It isn't. UK households throw away an estimated £700 of food every year. Globally, around a third of all food produced never gets eaten. And the frustrating part is that most of it is not wasted through carelessness, it is wasted through the gap between buying and knowing what to do with what you bought.
We looked for an app that solved that and couldn't find one. Every recipe app we tried started from the wrong end, they wanted us to choose a recipe first and then go buy the ingredients. Nobody was starting from the receipt.
So we built Quillo. Start with 3 free receipt scans every day, no credit card needed.
Photograph any grocery receipt and Quillo reads every ingredient using AI, then generates personalised recipes from exactly what you bought. Chicken, potatoes, asparagus, and a jar of Dijon you forgot you had? Quillo turns that into three dinners.
It works the other way too. Search any recipe in the world, find something that sounds good, and Quillo builds a smart shopping list that already knows what you have at home from your last scan. You only buy what you actually need.
The more you use it, the smarter it gets. Your dietary preferences, your scan history, your saved recipes, all of it builds into a picture of your kitchen and your taste that makes every suggestion feel less like a result and more like a recommendation from someone who knows you.
The founder of Quillo is the target user. Not a professional chef, not a food industry insider, just someone who works full time, does a weekly shop, and was tired of wasting both food and money because the connection between buying and cooking was broken.
That is who we built this for:
We are not trying to turn you into a chef. We are trying to make sure that the food you already bought becomes the dinner you actually eat.
Quillo is built and operated by Reisen AI Labs Ltd, a technology company registered in England and Wales. We are a small, independent team with no outside investors and no advertisers shaping what we build. Our only incentive is to make something genuinely useful.
Quillo is available on iOS and Android. A free tier gives everyone 3 receipt scans per day, no credit card required. Quillo Premium removes advertising and unlocks unlimited scans for £4.99 a month.
Have a question, a suggestion, or just want to tell us about a recipe that surprised you?
We read everything.
